Sun's new approach

I watched the webcast today from Jonathan Schwartz blog page and it was really interesting. The new servers are going to definitely put Dell out of the running which is exactly where they belong in my opinion. Dell is not a great product from the machines I've used of theirs. The space, cost and cooling cost savings if they are as good as Sun is boasting, will turn the server market on it's ear. Storage has become so inexpensive that it will be the least of many companies worries in the future. I had my doubts about the Sun acquisitions of recent days. It remains to be seen how the approach will help Sun 's overall position. I'm a fan of Java and some of their other products although I must admit, I have never used Solaris. Solaris 10 does not seem to be only focus now. Sun has looked beyond Solaris to something bigger and definitely better. It may return to its glory days of yester decade and outperform the competition's again.

Freespire revisted

Well it turns out that Freespire was actaully someone outside the companies idea. It genreated osme confussion and thereby promted the company to offer its latest version for free until Sept. 6, 2005. If you would like a copy go to linspire.com go to digital download Linspire 5.0 edition, it will say buy now, click it, apply coupon and write in freespire and then click apply. The servers are very busy but you may get lucky. Bit Torrent is the fastest way for most people although I have never had any luck using it. It is trully a great distro and well worth checking out.
